We all know how important it is to clean our homes. Wiping counters, mopping, vacuuming, etc. all come as second nature when we see dirt and spills, but what about the hidden dirt and dangers we can't see?
Dryer Vent Cleaning
Nearly 17,000 home clothes dryer fires are reported each year and the leading cause is the failure to clean dryer vents properly. We all know to empty the interior lint filter, but your exterior vent and ducts should be cleaned yearly as well to prevent lint buildup that can cause fires.
Empty your lint filter before and after each load of laundry. Don't forget to clean the back of the dryer where lint can build up.
Clean lint out of the vent pipe every three months.
Once a year have a professional come in to thoroughly clean out vent and ducts.
If it is taking longer than normal for clothes to dry, it is likely time to have a professional cleaning done.
Did you know that your carpets should be cleaned every 6 months even if they don't look dirty? That is because living in our carpets is allergens like dust, dead skin cells, dander, and animal hair which can lead to allergies, breathing issues, and skin reactions. Upholstery should be cleaned regularly as well.
After cleaning, carpets can be walked on damp with white socks.
If your carpet is older or not stretched correctly you could see waves in the carpet after cleaning. This is normal and will usually set back down after it's dry.
For spills we recommend blotting with a clean white towel and water as quickly as possible. If a rug cleaning product is needed make sure to follow the directions on the bottle carefully, including trying a test area.
